GrowRuck Pre-Blast

GrowRuck 23: July 16-17, 2021

F3 St. Louis has been growing at an insane pace over the last couple of years, so what better way to celebrate regional growth than spending some quality time in the forested river bluffs of beautiful Eastern Missouri with some of F3’s finest PAX?

The legend of Lewis & Clark’s Expedition began in this region, and now, 217 years later, it’s time to build your own story. Mid-July in St. Louis is truly something to behold. Just like Lewis & Clark’s adventure, GrowRuck 23 may involve heat, swarms of insects, and strong river currents. Only one confirmed death resulted out of their journey, but it’s rumored to have been due to an unrelated abdominal infection. Even if you do happen to be battling a pesky abdominal infection, don’t let that hold you back.  July is a ways off, and there’s plenty of time to heal up, so HC now to join your brothers in the Gloom.

Who’s the GrowRuck 23 Event Q?

Your Ruck Q for the weekend is Blistex, who will be coordinating with F3 Nation’s GrowRuck Q, Gus, to make this a weekend you’ll want to go home and write a detailed non-fiction book about.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I sleep in your basement upon my arrival in town?

While the F3 St. Louis PAX are known for their open door policy, we have negotiated a group rate at the Drury Inn & Suites – St. Louis Brentwood. Your room will even come with a bed, so no need to worry about lugging your home region bed inside your carry-on. Click the link below for booking information, but don’t wait too long, as these hot deals expire Monday, June 14.  If you’ve made lifelong friendships with local PAX after the weekend’s festivities, maybe you can revisit the basement discussion for the next GrowRuck.

Can I use your car when I get to the airport?

Odds are you haven’t been added to the local PAX’s insurance policy, so this wouldn’t be advisable.  You were crazy enough to sign up for GrowRuck, so who knows what you’ll do behind the wheel of someone else’s car.  Luckily for you out of towners, Uber services to/from the airport are complementary as part of your journey to the Gateway City.  Kick back and relax, while someone drives you to your destination and most likely asks why you’re in town.  2 extra credit points to the PAX that can EH their Uber driver to attend GrowRuck that weekend.

F3 St. Louis’ Kramer and Crop Circle will be your primary contacts for Uber services.  Reach out ahead of time and provide them with your arrival and departure information to place you on the Uber schedule for the weekend.  Treat them nice, and maybe they’ll add you to their auto policy next time.

Do I need to use my 2.0’s college fund to finance this experience?

No.  The cost of GrowRuck should not ever be the deciding factor for any PAX to not attend. F3 St. Louis has several fundraising efforts underway to support our brothers in need to help them attend this event.

The registration cost for attending this event is $150 for PAX of the St. Louis Region.  For all other PAX, the registration cost will be $125.  Again, the bottom line is that the focus of the weekend is your acceleration.  If finances are preventing you from marking down an HC, reach out to the GrowRuck 23 team to see how we can help.

Should I just show up with my toothbrush or will I need other equipment?

Great question, I’m glad you asked.  While proper dental hygiene is encouraged to prevent gum disease, you will need more equipment than that for your weekend.  Your most important component for the weekend will arguably be your best friend, the rucksack. While ‘Tommy Tough Mudder’ may have all the high tech gadgets and gear, that doesn’t mean his way is the only way to achieve legendary status at GrowRuck 23.  Spending several hundred dollars on a GORUCK rucksack or backpack is not a required component, but they are a durable option if one can be found in a price range you are comfortable with.

For those looking for a deal, check out your local Army surplus store, eBay, Craigslist, or Facebook Marketplace for potential discounted secondhand rucks.
